Flipkart is the only online retailer of Xiaomi phones in India, today was the day when it started the sale for the newly launched phone in India, Xiaomi Redmi Mi 1S. In my previous posts I wrote about the features of Xiaomi Mi3, Xiaomi Mi4, Xiaomi Redmi 1S and my personal experience which I faced during the sale day on Flipkart. Since these phones are limited and selling in batches, many registered themselves in every sale.
In my first fight on 29, July for Xiaomi Mi3 I was very much disappointed and wrote my full experience. That time I thought that It’s a trap and marketing stunto make market for Xiaomi (Might be true). In the next sale that was on 5 Aug, I was able to reserve one Mi3 for me.
Many visitors has commented about their experience on my post that I published before. Some of them are positive and some of them are very negative, even they purchased alternative phone to Mi3.
Now Xiaomi has temporarily suspended the sale of Mi3 phone and started selling its next low cost phone RedMI 1S on Flipkart. The officials from Mi, India have pointed to the launch of latest model of Xiaomi which is named as Mi4, may be this October on festive season of Diwali. You may read more about Mi4 here. Registration for today’s sale of Red 1S was started from couple of days before. According to Flipkart more than 2, 50,000 buyers registered themselves to get RedMi phone while Xioami was selling only 40,000 units this time.
The demand of the phone is very high because of two reasons. First, Xiaomi has sold more than 90K units of Xiaomi Mi3 phone and most of them are putting positive feedback through different channel. So Xiaomi has earned a positive feedback and reputation into the mobile market. Second, The phone RedMi 1s offering rich features which includes 4.7” 312 ppi IPS display, 8 MP front camera, 8 GB internal storage, 1.3 Ghz quad core processor etc, in just 5,999 only. If you try to seek an alternative with same specs it will range from 8,000 Rs. to 15,000 Rs.
I also registered myself for the sale of RedMi 1S. I logged in before one hour and hold on the sale page. When the clock ends “Buy Now” button appeared on my screen. I click on the button and got the message “Out of stock”. It was the same experience that I had on 29 July, the sale day of Mi3. Many of the friends were trying for the phone. Out of them only two of them were able to get the phone in their cart as a normal registered user without having Filpkart First account.
According to them, they got “Congratulations message” after hitting the “Buy Now” button stating that “we could not add phone to your card but we have reserve one for you that will be available in your cart in next 15 minute”. I am sharing one snapshot with you which I got as an email attachment from my friend.
But the experience of overall same is really frustrating. Xiaomi is aware of the response of Indian market and this huge demand still they are issuing limited stock in front of buyers. It may be because of the limited production capacity or to maintain the shortage in the market.
It is true that Xiaomi is offering something huge at a very less price but still filling frustration into the customer’s mind should not be avoided. AS we can see it’s all about the game of luck. Many of you may have decided to go for alternative solution. But In my opinion it’s better to get a phone in next sale and wait for a week instead of taking any adverse decision.
